Warm Flat Roofs

Generally used for homes and unlike a cold flat roof, the insulation is placed above the deck and ventilation is no longer required. The waterproofing is on top, keeping the roof warm and eliminating the need for ventilation

Cold Flat Roofs

There are two types of Flat Roofs

Cold roofs involve laying the thermal insulation between the joists under the structural deck. The waterproof layer is placed straight onto the roof deck.

In this case ventilation is needed above the insulation in order to prevent the build up of moisture vapour within the roof void which could cause materials to decay.
